Yesterday we participated in the award ceremony "Yangon Cultural Heritage: looking back at the past in order to develop a sustainable future" organised by the Italian Embassy and in the presence of H.E. Italian Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni and Italian Ambassador to Myanmar H.E. Pier Giorgio Aliberti for the Italian Embassy Photography Competition.
I was happy to be awarded the second prize.
The photograph I submitted for this competition is part of a series of 100 photographs which I took at the beginning of the year showing windows and balconies of downtown Yangon. The project is called "Windows of Yangon - Standing against time". A small selection of photos can be seen here.
I believe the photograph shows
well the mix between the past, the present and the future: the vintage
building, the determination of the woman and the hope reflected in the many
green plants.
It was a very nice evening
with lots of smiles and applause, with many people congratulating the winners.
I really enjoyed it. A great initative of the Italian Embassy
which opens with this event the series of Italian cultural events in the city
and which will also include movie nights and food tasting.
